Hennesy Artistry in Mist Club, Bangsar

Hennesy Artistry is back! This time will be happening at Mist Club, Bangsar on 30th July. Are you ready?

This year lineup include our local boy Reshmonu, Beautiful Beat Girls and Trimix.

Beautiful Beat Girls, who could take their eyes off this beautiful duo. This time around, with an expected crowd of over 2,000, the upcoming H-Artistry party promises to enthral party-goers to two explosive partying experiences where sights, sounds, and tastes collide.

Reshmonu. definitely has style in him. Other than that, guests will also be exposed to the Hennessy Mixing Bar – a bar where fans will be taught how to mix any of the four signature Hennessy V.S.O.P long drinks (Hennessy Citrus, Hennessy Berry, Hennessy Ginger, and Hennessy Apple). In addition to that, there will be a booth with the name Hennessy Music Mix Synth — where revellers will be given the chance to create their own tunes by selectively choosing to place 15 circular cubes on a react table (each cube represents a different music element, i.e: guitar, drums, etc) to allow them to experience the true meaning of “The Global Art of Mixing” through the blending of their very own tunes.

Trimix, looking forward in seeing them! Party goers can also visit the Hennessy iMix Challenge – an area where party-goers can try their hands at Hennessy’s newly developed iPad game which requires guests to slice up ingredients which are found in Hennessy V.S.O.P’s signature long drinks. The top 5 high scores screened on an LCD leaderboard will each take home a bottle of limited edition Hennessy V.S.O.P Helios. Other than that, Hennessy Interactive Photowall – a green screen photography area where revellers can enhance their photos digitally by choosing and inserting different visual backgrounds and shout out phrases.

I call myself a huge Hennessy Artistry fans as I never fail to turn up at all the 4 Hennessy Artistry 2010 party last year at Opera, Zouk, Mist and MICC. I enjoyed the Hennessy Artistry with great Artistes performance, DJs, awesome companion and the one we must not miss out, free flow of HENNESSY all night long!

Thanks to Hennessy Malaysia, I will be going to Mist Club for this leg of Henessy Artistry

At the mean time, see you guys at Hennessy Artistry happening in Mist Club, Bangsar this 30th July!

Puma FAAS TRAP Challenge

Puma FAAS TRAP Challenge is a challenge by Puma Malaysia to find the fastest runner across the nation. Regional winner might stand a chance to watch Usain Bolt live!

PUMA running is introducing their latest collection “FAAS” to Malaysia’s fastest athletes and most stylish fashionista alike.

The FAAS line is inspired by Usain Bolt, the one of the world’s most talented Track and Field athletes. 3 gold medalist for 2008 BeiJing olympics and broke records at the World Championships 2009 in Berlin.

The FAAS TRAP is a challenge which happened at One Utama not long ago. The challenge is aimed on finding athletes/runners that can challenge and compete with Usain Bolt within the first 30m. Of course, Puma Malaysia requires the runners to run with their new Puma running shoe.

The FAAS range is grounded in performance and features a biomechanical design technology exclusive to PUMA that provides a natural responsive ride. It helps the runner get into their own rhythm for increased speed and performance. The collection is available in three distinct variants ROCKER, FLEX and GROOVE.

Few bloggers from Advertlets decided to have a go on that day.

First up is Jon Yat Ku Teh. Look at the concentration on his face.

Melanie then decided to have a go as well, with her skirts! The only one so far.

Chermaine Poo, the fastest runner for females category. How can't she not be, look at her full outfit. Thats commitment for you.

Larry Crowne Movie Screening

I was invited to movie screening by Advertlets on the movie Larry Crowne. I  was hesitated to watch it at first because of the actors. I mean Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are not exactly actors in my era. However, I'm glad i decided to watch it at the end. Read more on the review below!
The story revolves around Larry Crown (as the title suggest), a widower who works at a local big-box company, and a superstar team leader, until the company decided to down-sized him due to him lacking proper qualification except graduating from high school. Larry serves the navy for 20 years as a cook and worked with the company ever since. Not knowing what to do on his mortgages, he decided to head to college to obtain proper qualification. Coincidently, he fell in love with the teacher who taught him in his public speaking class.
The director ( Tom Hanks ) infuse great laughter in most of the scenes especially during Larry’s public speaking class where most of the students were rather not serious on the class. During his Economic class, Tom manage to infuse laughter with the character of a cynic Japanese lecturer who are obsessed with self-laugh jokes that could only be understood by him ( in the class, that is).
Larry Crowne Movie
The romantic scenes between Larry and his lecturer was rather stale however as most scenes are there to just complement the whole show instead of adding a stronger impact onto the plot. There isnt any real intimate scenes between both of them except for the end of the show and when the lecturer was drunk. During the latter scene, the intimate scenes were rather more of a “potong stim” moment. The director should have used that scene to add a stronger ‘presence’ of love between them and create a better impact for the film.
In the end, what matters most is that it provides down to earth story line and great laughter all around. It was an enjoyable movie and its really straight forward. No thought provoking scene, no complicated dialogues. It’s a layback, care free, laughable comedy that is sure to tickle your funny bone.

A simple and direct movie. Some might find the plot too thin and not interesting. However, it is compensate by a world class performance by both Hanks and Roberts. Do not miss it, head to your local cinemas now!
I will like to thank Advertlets and Nusantara Edaran Filem again for the invitation.

Maxis BlackBerry Playbook First Impression

In my opinion, it is the most portable and stylish tablet. The 7inch device fit in nicely to the palm and it is comfortable to hold on. The material used for this device do feel premium as well.

In terms if usability, I have nothing but positive remarks on this sleek device. Among the great features in my opinion is

     1) high resolution display. The text and images displayed are crispy and sharp. It is fair to say that the resolution is among the best in the tablets section.

     2) true multitasking. This device really show what is true multi tasking about. You can switch freely from application to application without pausing or stopping your other application. Cool eh!

     3) true tablet. I believe that tablet should be the size in between a smartphone and netbook. Therefore, I think that RIM totally made the correct decision in making this 7inch tablet instead of other competitor 10inch tablet. Everything seems to fit in perfectly. From the sizes to the finish.

However, BlackBerry still lack in applications. This will be only flaw in this almost perfect tablet. Strong rumors has mentioned that RIM will allow Android apps to be ported into the BlackBerry OS. Lets pray it will come true.

Conclusion, this device is nothing but stylish. classy and elegant device. From functionality to design, it is a top notch gadget.

Definitely a buy for me. Will you?

Samsung Galaxy Ace Mini Review

Looking for a smartphone below the price of RM1000? Samsung has the answer for you all! With a 800Mhz processor, Android 2.2 froyo, a 5MP camera and a 3.5-inch 320×480 screen along with a host of other useful features, it’s hard to recommend a more decently speced Android at this price point. Firstly, I need to make a shout out to Samsung Malaysia and Jason Ong from Advertlets for lending me the phone for this mini review. You can check out his review on www.mynjaz.com.

First Impression

In my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy Ace look like the Android version of an Apple iPhone 4. The design of the Ace is very similar to iPhone 4. In terms of weight, Ace is lighter because the body is all built in plastic material. However, Ace is not exactly that slim compared to an iPhone but is definitely
one of those slim smartphones in the market.

Interface/O.S

The built in Android 2.2 Froyo is very good and stable O.S. I find the interface of the Ace is also almost similar to an iPhone. The ability to customize your phone homepage, widgets, and interfaces of the Ace is one of my liking. You will be able to 'experience' more with your smartphone unlike the iPhone 4 whereby you are restricted on the customization part.

I also think that the messaging interface of the Ace is very good and is almost similar to the iPhone 4 messaging interface. However, the space between the alphabet is too narrow to my liking, person with bug thumbs be aware! In overall, I find that the Ace interface is also very similar to an iPhone but because of Android ability to customize your interface make Ace a better option for those who like to 'play' around with their smartphones.

Performance

Even with a 5-megapixel camera, I dislike the image taken by the Ace. Its clearly lack of sharpness and contrast. But it is a decent camera for this price range of Android. Other than that, it is quite a smooth phone. I managed to go through few days with the Ace without complaining on the sluggishness and speed of it. However, I'm quite disappointed with the performance when it comes to gaming and applications. Angry Birds is almost unplayable in the Ace as it is too sluggish and slow.

I would like to point out that the major weakness in the Ace is the battery performance. The battery drained way too fast for a normal usage. I need to charge the Ace three times a day in order for a normal daily usage. This is proven that the battery is very poor and it can be very frustrating.

Conclusion/Verdicts

Pros: cheap and affordable, fast , slick design, nice interface with Android 2.2

Cons: very poor battery, poor camera, certain applications can be sluggish and slow.

If anyone is looking for a cheap and affordable Android or smartphones, Samsung Galaxy Ace is a very good buy. But you will need to keep in mind to bring your charger around because the battery performance can be very frustrating.

Rating: I can give a 8 out of 10 for its performance and price tag. However, I believe that the battery is drained out too fast.
Therefore is a 6/10 for me.
